How to Install Pegboards in 8 Steps?

Are Epoxy Resin Pegboards worth the money?

Having a pegboard in your lab is a necessity. When working with bulky lab glassware like flasks, beakers, and pH meters, an epoxy resin pegboard is a need.

A pegboard made of epoxy resin helps keep lab racks organized. Strong fibers in epoxy glue outperform ordinary plastic pegs at holding heavyweights firmly in place, which can harm your pricey scientific equipment.

With holes pre-drilled for mounting equipment, a pegboard may be attached to a concrete wall with ease.

The Pegboard Panel should be cut to size.

Cut the epoxy resin pegboard to fit your space if you're not installing a full sheet. If you're cutting a pegboard panel with a circular saw, you may end up with tear-out on the panel's higher-quality face or have your saw blade stuck in the holes.

To avoid this, place the pegboard panel level on the work surface and face up. When cutting with a jigsaw, use only one blade for each side of the board and always keep the good side down.

Precision cuts are easier to achieve with a table saw, which aids in achieving a flawless fit.

Discard the Furring Strips that Are Left Over.

The pegs and holes for the hanging system are cut using the furring strips as a guide. For the rear of the pegboard panel, cut two pieces of 12 furring strips with a circular saw.

The furring strips' outside borders should be flush with the pegboard's outer edges. In order to fill in the gap, clip a second frame to place between the first two.

If necessary, cut a few more to serve as fillers. You can use a jig or a hand saw to cut all of these to a minimum length of 36 inches.

Attach the Stripes.

To keep the furring strips in place, use drywall screws or double-sided adhesive to adhere them to the back of the panel.

Using a regular screwdriver, insert standoffs into the pre-drilled holes in the furring strips on both the front and back of the panel. The holes on the pegboard should not be used for screws.

Also, if you're only using double-sided glue to connect them, fill in the spaces between the top and bottom with intermediate furring strips.

Create a Framework

Make a frame for the pegboard out of a picture frame and molding. To make cleaning easier and to hide the edges, use furring strips to enclose them.

With no molding in the right proportions, make your own frame by milling two similar pieces from 12 stock by cutting a rabbet into one face of the stock.

Attach them to the frame with 1-3′′ wood screws and veneer adhesive or mild spackling substance on either side. When cutting molding, be sure to account for overhangs.
