As your portal is ready now, let’s add some more changes!
Here is an example of a completed homepage, let’s start with yours.
The Portal is provided with the welcome sections, pages, and widgets as templates for demonstration purposes. It can be edited or deleted later.
On the top of your portal, you can find the following buttons:
- “Customize portal”;
- “Search Analytics”;
- “Miss something?”;
- “Tips & Tricks”;
- “To Nimbus Note”.
Let’s start with “Customize portal” and make your portal special.
“Customize Portal” #
On the homepage, choose “Customize Portal”.
The menu with different options appears:
- “Active theme”;
- “Personalize Header”;
- “Personalize Sidebar”;
- “Site Identity”;
- “Layout Options”;
- “Footer Options”;
- “Header Image”;
- “Background Image”.
This menu can vary depending on the theme.
It’s a lot, isn’t it? 🙂 However, it will help you to make your portal unique! Let’s start:
What you see below is called a collapsible heading. This is one of the many features of Nimbus Notes, so you can make the long text easier to read. And the block with the flag you are reading now is called a hint object, and by the way, you can change the icon. In Nimbus Universe you can use many possibilities to improve your productivity. You can write instructions as we did and send them to your clients after. More information about Nimbus Note features you can find in our Guides..
“Change” button #
The Active theme part shows you an active theme.
By clicking on “Change” you’ll be able to see the themes’ details. Select one of the themes and click on the preview.
To publish the theme, click on the “Activate & Publish” button.
“Personalize Header” #
Click on “Personalize Header” and choose the size of the header:
The size of the header can vary depending on the theme.
All changes are available in the portal preview. It will help you to make your choice easier.
“Personalize Sidebar” button #
The Sidebar view is very important in different Themes, and sometimes you just don’t need it.
Hide it with the “Personalize Sidebar” button:
Choose, where to hide the sidebar on the homepage or in the section by clicking on the following checkboxes:
- Show Sidebar;
- Show Sidebar on the Home page.
“Site Identity” button #
“Site Identity” will help you to add the:
- Site Title;
- Site Icon.
To add Site icon and logo, follow these steps:
Click on “Select Logo” → See the window with images or Upload yours → Crop it → Enjoy!
The Select Site Icon works in the same way, just pick the right image.
The Logo and Site icon can be removed or changed after adding it.
“Layout options” button #
The sidebar position (Left or Right) can be changed with “Layout options“.
To make your Portal more special — just change its background:
“Footer option” button #
Personalize the footer of your portal with the “Footer option”.
Don’t want to see Nimbus branding in the footer? Hide it by clicking on “Display designer credit.”
Moreover, the information in the footer can be changed.
“Header & Background Images” #
Add any image to your header with “Header Image”. Just click on “Select” and choose the right one.
For ‘Background Image’ – it works the same, select the image and see the result!
In the bottom left, the three variants of the viewing portal are available:
- mobile version
Don’t forget to save all changes! The “Publish” button is right there:
Choose the different variants of publishing with the settings:
- Publish (Save your changes now)
- Save draft (You can save all of your changes and publish them later)
You can also discard changes by clicking on the “Discard changes” button.
Make your portal easier to navigate with the Sidebar menu ?
On the top of the sidebar click on the “Add item” button and choose what item to add to your portal:
- Nimbus Note content;
- Custom Link;
- Menu Section.
“Nimbus Note content” #
Your portal is connected with Nimbus Note, so you can add the whole folders or separate pages to your sidebar.
After clicking on “Add item” the window with your Nimbus folders and pages appears.
Need to find the page from the list? Use the “Search within pages”.
To add the Nimbus Page to your portal, follow these steps :
Click on the folder → Choose the page from the list→ Click on ➕ → Your page has been added to the sidebar menu.
The added folders and pages are marked with ✅
Moreover, if you make any changes to your page, they will appear in the portal.
Obviously, it’s more convenient to add the folder with all included pages as the section of your Portal.
To add the Folder to your portal, follow these steps:
Choose the folder from the list→ Click on ➕ → Your folder has been added to the sidebar menu with all its pages.
The folder will be added as a portal section with all its pages from Nimbus Note. After that, you will be able to manage what pages should be synced with the portal.
If you create or remove any pages from the folder, the portal will be updated accordingly.
The titles of pages and folders are synchronized with Nimbus Note too.
“Custom link” #
Also, you can add a link for any site, just use a “Custom Link“. This custom link will redirect portal visitors to the site you’ve added.
“Menu Section” #
Need more sections for your portal?
Select the “Menu Section” and follow these steps:
Add Section name→ Choose the position → Add to menu → The new section has been added to the sidebar.
If you need to create a new page for your portal, click on the button “Create Page” and you will be redirected to Nimbus Note in a new tab. You need to click on ‘ + Page’ there.
Your pages, folders, custom links, and sections are added unpublished to the sidebar.
Let’s publish them, rename and change the structure.
When you hover over a page or folder name, custom link, or section, the eye icon and pen will appear.
Just click on the eye icon and the item will be published.
Click on the pen icon and edit your item:
- Change the status: Published or Unpublished;
Let’s edit the added folder!
You can manage, what pages to publish or unpublish in your portal:
Choose the pen icon → Choose the pages you want to publish/unpublish →Change the status of it.
Don’t need some pages or folders in the Portal?
They can be simply deleted from the sidebar menu.
To create the different levels of menu items and change the order of the items – use drag and drop:
Pages can’t be moved from and to the synchronized folder.
“Page Widgets” #
Change the Homepage’s blocks and make them work!
With drag and drop, you can easily relocate them.
Click on “Add page widget”, and the window with options appears:
- Information block;
- Nimbus page.
“Information block” #
The “Information block” will redirect portal visitors to the site you’ve added.
To add the “Information block” to the page widgets, follow the next steps:
Click on the information block → Fill in the information→ Add URL→ Save.
The checkbox “USE TILE AS LINK” will change the design of the information block.
The embed blocks will help you with services, you’d like to see on the portal.
To add the “Embed”, follow these steps:
Click on embed→ Enter your embed code → View the preview of embed → Save it.
The “Embed” will help you to keep all your documents in one place without switching between pages. Nimbus works well for plugging in widgets from other platforms. Use different features to achieve more.
“Nimbus Page” #
The button “Nimbus Page” is the best way to design complex pages with different info.
To add the “Nimbus page” widget, follow these steps:
Click on Nimbus Page→ Choose the page→ Click on ➕ → Save→ The page has been added to widgets.
Clicking on the pen icon, you can edit Page Widgets.
Don’t you think, it’s enough only widgets on the homepage?
Just add widgets to the pages in the sidebar menu and make them more fascinating ?
Use drag & drop to relocate widgets.
“Edit Page” #
Your Nimbus pages will be synchronized with the portal automatically, so if you change the information inside the page – the page on the portal will be updated too.
Change the information in the portal quickly – just tap on the “Edit page” at the top of the page, and it will redirect you to Nimbus Note inside this particular page.
